The Ramayana is an epic Hindu Poem, telling the love story (or breakup story) of Princess Sita and Prince Rama. The poem beautifully written, but also very loooong, but this amazing artist turned it into a cartoon! "Rama sings the Blues"
.

Artistic Influences:
*Blues music
*Classic Indian Sculpture...
(notice how the curves of the waist, hips and chest are greatly exaggerated)
and Mughal Miniatures, (see below the video) Remember the Mughal empire, from when Persia conquered India.

The video is reccomended for ages 10 and up.
Post your responses on the the blog comments :D We will discuss it in class next week! Don't copy some one else, if they took your answer, add some extra details to yours ^_^ (the first person to response won't have to worry about copying some one ;D)
Response ideas...
Why does Sita have a reason to 'sing the blues'? What do the modern story and the story of Rama and Sita have in common?
Do you think Rama and Sita have a healthy and respectful relationship? Why or Why not? What would you do if you were in Sita's position?
Why did Rama leave?
Who is Ravana?
Pick a song, explain what the lyrics of the song have to do with the story.
